The entrancing past

In ancient times, a mega civilization was kindled by the two mighty rivers of Tigris and Euphrates. The ancient civilization of Mesopotamia had experienced a lot of what we would recognize as luxury and success and political affairs in its time. The history of the world could not be written if not for the power of this blessed land in the Fertile Crescent had bestowed sustenance for the Assyrians, Sumerians and Babylonians. They have provided a vast knowledge base on history, mathematics, sciences, medicine and astronomy. The great influences of Mesopotamia are still enduring and will be forever part of the modern world. The vast and might extent of the civilization will be forever be remembered in ruins, and literature.

Iraq, revisited

there are numerous iconic landmarks that one should care to visit the country in the near future. Once, the mighty capital of ancient Mesopotamia, Babylon is one of the most unique historical sites in Iraq and the whole world. The city was made the capital of the Mesopotamian empire by Hammurabi. In the next few centuries the city was left in shambles by the Assyrians and it was left behind in ruins after the death of Alexander the Great. Still, the stories that it conjured up like the Tower of Babel as well as the Hanging Gardens are all too good to leave this city behind. Other great destinations that are noteworthy in Iraq are: The Great Ziggurat, National Museum of Iraq Hatra Ruins and Wadi al Salam which is the largest cemetary in the world.

The light of the future

There will come a time when Iraq will again be a country that will be recognized, most likely for the peace. Peace has been long stripped off in this land with socio-political strife. There will come a time when peace would reign in Iraq. It would be hard for a country to recover because they have seen mostly the culture of violence. People in Iraq also seek that peace and maybe, with the context if their unified religious beliefs, things would be better in the future. In time, we will be able to see the beauty in Iraq and the offerings it could give for cultural enrichment.
